Passed VCP-CMA 2021

One product that I haven’t had too much exposure to over the years is vRealize Automation. There have been many reasons for this not least that I was focusing on other technology and automation was something that colleagues looked after.

Recently though I have been working on a migration project that had a customer move unmanaged VMs into a new environment where they would be imported into vRA8 to become managed. As I was working on the migration testing I had to refine the process and learnt a lot in a short time about this product.

I decided to take the VMware Certified Professional – Cloud Management and Automation 2021 exam and booked a date for a month out.

Material used

I took the VMware vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V8.3] – On Demand course to help fill in some areas that were new to me.

Whilst searching online I found Phoebe Kim’s website very helpful where see broke down the exam blueprint into various posts. Even though some of these posts were for the 2020 exam it was all relevant.

Exam

I decided to do the exam from home using Pearson Vue. The exam itself was 70 Questions and was based on v8.1 (edit – now since changed to 8.3). Everything that I used to prepare was more than enough along with the experience I gained from my project.

At the end of the exam it was nice feeling to have conquered a product that previously I had only ever seen in passing and to add another VCP track to my certifications..
